Herat Female Managers Network (HFM Network)

Herat Female Managers Network  (HFM Network) is title of the 6-month project which was implemented by MSO in Herat province, Afghanistan in 2019. The target group or the direct beneficiaries of establishing the HFM Network through this project were; at least 100 women who are the managers and administrators working in public, private, and non-government institutions or sectors in Heart Province, Afghanistan. The overall activities of this project were focused on three arias which are as follows:

  • Capacity-building Committee: Where all and every member could be admitted voluntarily.
  • Advocacy Committee: With at least 30 members, among which there can be the civil activists, men or women, who are not the members of the Organization or the Network.
  • Awareness-raising Committee: With at least 20 volunteer members.
  • And Research Committee in which more than 30 members ore voluntarily working.

Herat Female Managers’ Network project started in July 2019 by MSO with the financial support of JRS to provide these female managers an opportunity to get together, raise their voices, and advocate for one another. During these six months of the project, the foundation of the HFM network was formed, policies and strategies followed, plans and programs were practiced and developed. Based on the achievements and according to the demand of network members, MSO prepares a proposal to continue the project in 2020. The project continued seven more months, but after that the team of MSO are working voluntarily.

Outcome: 

Consequently; during three years of Network life, more than 150 woman managers were joined to the Network and  work eagerly in committees. Also 13 Leadership and Management workshops were conducted for managers, headmasters, and civil activists, more than 20 advocacies were done by Advocacy Committee to solve different problems, most of the Network members were invited to different medias to be introduce as active women of the society, and many researches were done about different subjects by Research committee of the Network. Furthermore, especial days such as: International Woman Day, International Human Rights Day, International Teacher Day and were celebrated.
